The ICC opened the Women's ODI World Cup 2029 host bid window on May 5, 2026. Five federations have filed initial expressions of interest. The 2029 cycle is the first Women's ODI WC after the expansion to 12 teams. Hosting requires a higher venue count and a longer broadcast window. Here is the shortlist.

England — the favourite

ECB has bid with eight venues — Lord's, the Oval, Headingley, Trent Bridge, Old Trafford, Edgbaston, Bristol and Hove. The pitch — strong domestic women's cricket infrastructure, the Hundred private-investor money, broadcast certainty. The catch — last hosted Women's ODI WC in 2017. ICC may want geographical rotation.

Pakistan — the surprise bid

PCB has filed with Lahore, Karachi, Multan and Rawalpindi. The pitch — emerging women's cricket programme, government investment, security upgrades since 2024. The catch — PCB has never hosted a senior ICC women's ODI event. The infrastructure has been pressure-tested with Asia Cup 2024 and Champions Trophy 2025 men's events.

West Indies — the underdog

CWI bid with Barbados, Trinidad, Antigua, Jamaica and Guyana. The pitch — never hosted Women's ODI WC, full ICC subsidy. The catch — financial stability of CWI, broadcast scheduling for European prime time, and hurricane season overlap.

Sri Lanka — the wildcard

SLC bid with Colombo, Pallekele, Hambantota and Galle. The pitch — neutral subcontinent venue, low-cost staging, ICC subsidy. The catch — same broadcast time zone as India, who already hosts the Women's T20 WC 2026.

UAE-Oman joint bid — the dark horse

UAE Cricket Board and Oman Cricket have filed a joint bid. The pitch — three venues in UAE (Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah) and two in Oman (Muscat). Neutral, secure, broadcast-ready. The catch — never hosted a Women's ODI WC. UAE hosted ACC Women's T20 Asia Cup 2018.

The voting math

ICC board has 17 voting members. Women's cricket investment vote may swing to a country that has invested heavily. England leads on broadcast and infrastructure. Pakistan leads on geo-political diversity and ICC's push for emerging-market hosting. The Asia bloc (5 votes) may split between Pakistan, Sri Lanka and UAE-Oman.

What changes if PCB lobbies hard

If PCB secures Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka's support, the bid becomes credible. Add CSA, CWI and one or two associate votes, and Pakistan has 8-9 votes. England still leads with 9-10. The decision is at the ICC AGM in Singapore July 2026.
