The ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup is held every 2 years, usually with 16 teams. It's the most important pathway tournament — many current IPL and international stars came through here. Here's the format.
Tournament cycle
Every 2 years. The 2026 edition is being hosted by Zimbabwe and Namibia (January–February 2026).
Number of teams
16 — 4 groups of 4. Top 2 of each group advance to Super League (quarterfinals). Bottom 2 go to Plate (consolation).
Qualification
11 full members auto-qualify. 5 remaining via regional qualifiers (Africa, Asia, East Asia-Pacific, Americas, Europe).
Eligibility
Players must be under 19 on 1 September of the tournament year.
