Cricket balls have tight weight and size specs. Here are the 2026 rules for Test, ODI, T20I, and IPL.

Test match ball

Weight: 155.9–163 g (5.5–5.75 oz). Circumference: 224–229 mm (8.81–9.00 in). Typically red Kookaburra or SG.

ODI ball

Same weight/size as Test. White, usually Kookaburra. Two new balls used (one from each end) since 2011.

T20I / IPL ball

Same weight/size. White Kookaburra. One ball used throughout the innings.

Women's cricket ball spec

Slightly lighter: 140-151 g. Mandatory in women's T20/ODI since 2018.
