Paarl Royals

Captain: David Miller. Core: Jos Buttler, Lungi Ngidi, Tabraiz Shamsi. Watch points: Buttler's availability post-Test commitments; Ngidi remains the bowling spine.

What this league means

SA20 has cemented itself as the second-most-followed franchise league after the IPL by Indian audience metrics. Season four matters for South African cricket because it directly informs the senior squad through the home Test summer and CT 2027. Auction signings and captaincy moves both feed into national selection.

For broader SA20 context, see the SA20 2026-27 schedule squads piece. For the prior season's overseas-signing review, the SA20 best overseas signings impact review walks the auction-trade-show data.

The SA20 League schedule release is expected within seven weeks of the auction window. Watch for the captaincy announcement at MI Cape Town and Pretoria Capitals first.
