Border-Gavaskar 2027 is a five-Test tour spread across Nagpur, Pune, Mumbai, Delhi and Ahmedabad, and for the Indian fan deciding which leg to actually fly to, the practical questions are non-negotiable. What time does the first ball go down each day? When do tickets release from the host association portals? Which city has the easier travel and accommodation curve? This is the working planner — session timings, ticket tiers, release windows and city logistics laid out the way a five-Test tour actually demands.

Tour Frame

Five Tests in February-March 2027, all WTC 2025-27 cycle points-bearing. Squad and tactical preview lives in the Australia tour of India 2027 BGT preview. The Nagpur opener is also previewed in detail in our 1st Test Nagpur preview, and the Pune surface in our 2nd Test Pune preview.

Session Timings — Standard Indian Test Day

SessionIST WindowNotes
First ball9:30 AMToss at 9:00 AM; pitch report 8:55 AM
Lunch11:30 AM - 12:10 PM40-minute interval
Tea2:10 PM - 2:30 PM20-minute interval
Stumps4:30 PM+ extra half-hour for 15-over deficit

Day 1 toss is the only day that runs slightly differently — for a 9:00 AM toss, the broadcast pre-show begins at 8:30 AM IST. India home Tests have not deployed pink-ball day-night cricket since the 2019 Eden experiment; all five BGT 2027 Tests will be daytime red-ball.

Test-by-Test Schedule and Cities

TestDates (indicative)VenueCapacity
1stFeb 4-8, 2027VCA Stadium, Nagpur (Jamtha)40,000
2ndFeb 12-16, 2027MCA Stadium, Pune (Gahunje)37,000
3rdFeb 20-24, 2027Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai33,000
4thFeb 28-Mar 4, 2027Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi35,000
5thMar 8-12, 2027Narendra Modi Stadium, A'bad132,000

Ahmedabad is the day-game atmosphere fixture by capacity alone; Wankhede and Pune are the most fan-friendly for atmosphere; Delhi tends to draw the smallest day-1 crowd and the largest day-3 surge.

Ticket Pricing Tier — Indicative

TierIndicative Price (Day Pass)Where
Premium / PavilionINR 4,000 - 8,000Reserved member end
Upper clubINR 1,500 - 3,000Behind bowler arm
Stand reservedINR 600 - 1,500Long-on / long-off
General admissionINR 200 - 500Far stands
Five-day series passINR 5,000 - 25,000Tier-dependent

Pavilion and member-end pricing scales sharply for Day 3 onwards because that's when the result becomes visible. General-admission tickets at Ahmedabad have historically held under INR 300 even for India-Australia days.

Ticket Release Windows — Host Associations

TestHost AssociationPortalLikely Release
1stVCAvca.in / BookMyShowMid-December 2026
2ndMCA (Pune)mca.cricket / BMSMid-December 2026
3rdMCA (Mumbai)mumbaicricket.comLate December 2026
4thDDCAddca.co.in / BMSEarly January 2027
5thGCAgujaratcricket.orgEarly January 2027

BookMyShow handles secondary distribution for VCA and the Pune MCA; the Mumbai and Ahmedabad associations have historically used their own portals for the first 24 hours. The day-1 morning crowd of any BGT Test sells out within 30 minutes of release; days 4 and 5 often have walk-up availability at the gate.

City-by-City Logistics

Nagpur: nearest international airport is Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar (NAG); Jamtha is a 45-minute drive from the city; hotel inventory is thin so book within seven days of release.

Pune: closest airport is Pune (PNQ); the Gahunje ground is 25 km from city centre with limited public transport, taxi is the practical option; Pimpri-Chinchwad has the cheapest hotel cluster.

Mumbai: BOM is 25 minutes from Wankhede in non-peak; the Churchgate-Marine Lines stretch fills with fan walk-ups. The fastest exit on a result day is Mantralaya direction, not Marine Drive.

Delhi: DEL airport to Arun Jaitley is 40 minutes via metro (Yellow + Blue line interchange) and around 55 minutes by road. Khan Market is the closest hotel cluster with walking distance to the venue.

Ahmedabad: AMD is 15 minutes from Motera. The Modi Stadium parking is the choke point — book a hotel on SG Highway and metro in. The capacity means demand and walk-up are both higher than any other Test in this tour.

How To Use This Page

Pair this with our BGT preview piece for tactical context, set a December calendar reminder for VCA and Pune MCA release windows, and decide which two of the five Tests fit your travel budget — the data shows fan-experience peaks at Wankhede and the historic atmosphere at Eden-isn't-on-the-list this cycle, so Wankhede is the marquee pick for the neutral-Indian fan.
